Tuesday Throwdown #6

Happy Tuesday!  The challenge at Tuesday Throwdown this week is Black & White with a splash of color.  This works perfectly for me, since that's exactly how I'm doing my wedding album.  My bridesmaids wore dark purple, so I am using purple as an accent color through the album.

This is the right page that goes along with the "family" layout I did a few days ago.

Patterned Paper - Paper Pizzazz and Miss Elizabeth's
Misc: K&Co Bridesmaids and Groomsmen stickers, Buttons and ric rac from stash, chipboard "&" pack from Michael's dollar bin

Challenges:
1. Tuesday Throwdown - black and white with one color
2. Stamp TV - black and white photo with color all over

Wedding Layouts

I created two layouts on Thursday morning (before my power went out for 21 hours!).

The first (left) page was using the Page Maps sketch for the LID Challenge on the Cricut MB.

My brother (top left) walked my grandmother down the aisle.  The ushers took their seats (bottom left) and my grandmother and godmother were chatting in the bottom right photo.

Close up of the stamping with silver embossing powder.

For the right page, I used this weeks sketch at Sketches in Thyme

My brother in law walked my mother in law down the aisle.  My brother walked my mother down the aisle. (The stickers say "Mother of the Groom" and "Mother of the Bride")

Crazy Weekend...

What a weekend!  It all started on Thursday.  Around 3:30 pm, we got hit with a MAJOR thunderstorm.  Hail was coming down in buckets.  The wind was blowing so hard that it ripped my plants to shreds.

I took some pictures during the storm.  They aren't the clearest pictures, but it was raining so hard!

I took this picture out my front window during the storm.  The winds blew my metal porch furniture all over - the chairs were all soaked and upside down.

Hail collecting on my doormat:

Hail piling up in my flower beds:

The aftermath... this is one of my flower beds FULL of hail.  It looked like it snowed! The ice was the size of golf balls.

Within about 30 seconds of the storm starting, my power went out.  Luckily it was daytime.  After the storm, my neighbors and I listened to the radio.  The winds were 75-80 miles per hour, and a tornado had touched down about 1-2 miles from my house!  Who knew tornadoes hit near Philadelphia?

Anyway, my car and my husband's car have TONS of dents from hail, my screen windows have holes in them, and my garden has been torn to shreds.  But I was lucky.

Most of my neighbors have broken windows and the ones with vinyl siding have hundreds of holes from the hail - it looks like someone shot their houses with a machine gun!

Our power was out until noon on Friday, so it was about 21 hours total.  I was going through blog withdrawal!  It was too hot in my house without AC, so I couldn't even scrapbook!  I read a book on my front porch for the majority of the time.

Friday night we went down the shore.  On Saturday, we hit a pothole and my front tire immediately went flat.  We had to drive home on a donut, and now I need to special order one of the low profile tires that my car takes.  Grrr....

And finally last night, I was doing laundry from the shore.  My stationary tub overflowed!  So I cleaned it all up, plunged the drain, and put towels on the floor to soak up the mess.  The sink seemed to be going down, so I did another load.  It overflowed AGAIN!  So it looks like I will be calling a plumber today as well.

I hope that you all had better weekends than I did...

Sherrod Studio Blog Hop

Hey everyone!  It's time for a blog hop!  My friend Kim from Sherrod Studio Stamps is hosting a blog hop to celebrate the re-launch of her stamp line.

Here's a little info about the reasons for the re-launch of the line:

Hi There!
This is Kim. I started my stamp line a year ago but decided to take some time off to due to personal and business decisions that I needed to make. As life would have it, things started happening. First we got burglarized and without insurance we couldn't replace important things that were taken, then a couple of days after that we had a financial setback. My hope in launching the new stamps and bringing back old favorites is to raise money to help our family get back on our feet again. We are grateful to everyone we know who have given us so much love and support as we work our way back to feeling safe and secure again.

Hugs,

Kim

I have made two cards for this blog hop.  For the first one, I used the "Gamer" set.  Isn't it perfect for any little boy?  I made this card for my nephew.  I will likely use it for his birthday (next March), but I didn't put a sentiment in case I need to use it for another occasion.

Details:
Solid Cardstock by The Paper Co
Stamps by Sherrod Studio
Bic Mark it Markers

For the second card, I used the "Rock and Roll" set.  My favorite uncle (and godfather) plays the guitar and his 50th birthday is July 7th, so this was perfect timing!  I just love the flourishes around the guitars and music notes!

Solid Cardstock by The Paper Co
Stamps by Sherrod Studio, "You Rock" sentiment by Studio G

The next stop on the hop is the lovely and talented Leah of Paper Blossoms.
If you want to start at the beginning of the hop, please visit Sherrod Studio.

In order to be eligible for the prize draw, be sure to comment on the blogs of all 6 hop participants.

A Graduation Card

I am going to a graduation party this weekend for my nextdoor neighbor's son, so I made this card for him.

I saw a youtube video on how to do the "emboss resist" technique, so I tried it for this card.  It was very easy and I loved the results!

Patterned Paper from unknown source (I bought a "holiday" pack of 100 sheets of paper - this was the VERY first scrapbook paper I bought!), Solid cardstock by The Paper Co, Stamps by Studio G, Clear Embossing Powder by Inkadinkado, Versamark Watermark Stamp Pad, Tim Holtz Distress Inks,

PS - Please stop back tomorrow and join me in the Sherrod Studio blog hop!

Groom & Groomsmen Layouts

I didn't have many pictures of the guys getting ready, as the photographer was at my house while the girls were getting ready.  So I compiled the only 4 pictures I had into this layout.

As you may have noticed in my previous post, I am only using selected colors in my wedding scrapbook.  I am using black, white, silver, and purple.

I wanted these two pages to be masculine, so I think I succeeded...

Tuesday Throwdown #3

It's Tuesday, so that means it's time for another challenge at Tuesday Throwdown.  The challenge was a nautical/water theme.  I've been meaning to scrap these pictures of the dogs at the beach for a while, so this was the perfect opportunity.

I am making an 8x8 doggie scrapbook for my mother in law, so that she can have some pictures of her "grandpuppies."  She helps us out so much with the dogs.  She even comes over to walk them on days that my husband and I are both at work.

Paper: I was using up some scraps left over from my Hawaii album.  The tan & blue paper is Miss Elizabeth's.  I am not sure about the polka dot paper (it may be by My Mind's Eye).

Cricut Life's a Beach, Distress Inks, Nestabilities Circle, Gelly Roll White Pen

I made this card for my mother in law's birthday. She has palm trees and tropical colors all over her apartment, so this card is very appropriate.

Tuesday Throwdown #2

I had so much fun making these layouts.  I just got Create a Critter, so this gave me the perfect opportunity to try it out.  The challenge at Tuesday Throwdown this week is trees and nature.

My friend Shel is pregnant and she has chosen to do a nature theme for baby Avery's nursery.  These two layouts will be framed for her to hang on the wall.

Details:
Patterned paper (has animals all over it) - DCWV spring stack
Misc - Cricut Create a Critter, Tim Holtz distress inks,
